What goes into one short

Not the same template with a different face.

A good short isn’t just a crop and some captions. It’s a complete idea, framed so nothing important goes missing, packaged the way you would package it.

Same moment. Five creators. Five different shorts.

  1. A complete moment

Starts on the strongest line, keeps the setup the payoff needs, and ends on the point, not in dead air.

  2. Framing that keeps what matters

Both speakers, your on-screen graphics, the thing being demonstrated. A blind vertical crop cuts them off.

  3. Captions people can trust

Names and terms spelled correctly, with emphasis on the words that carry the meaning rather than random ones.

  4. A title in your voice

Written in your phrasing and slang, not a generic “You won’t believe this!” hook.

  5. Your look, not ours

Built from your existing style (fonts, colours, layout) so it feels like it came from your channel.

Before / after

Same footage. Different video.

53 raw seconds of a podcast episode, then the 38-second short we cut from it: pauses and an aside removed, reframed to a full-screen vertical shot that follows the speaker, with captions and a title.

The part clipping tools leave to you

A clipping tool gives you another workflow. We do the work and send you the edits.

With a clipping tool, you still…

  • scroll through dozens of auto-picked clips
  • fix clips that start mid-sentence or end on dead air
  • re-crop shots that lost a speaker or your graphics
  • correct misspelled names in the captions
  • rewrite generic hooks so they sound like you
  • keep doing it every episode

With Content Octopus, you…

  • send a link to a video you’ve already published
  • get finished, captioned MP4s back
  • post them when and where you want
  • tell us what to change

That’s it. No new software to learn.

How it works

Three steps. You only do the first one.

  1. Send a recent video

Paste a link to a recent upload, or tell us you’d rather send the file privately. Style notes are optional but welcome.

  2. We confirm fit and make the edits

We check the video suits short-form, confirm by email, then pick the strongest complete moment and match framing, captions and title to your style. A person watches every edit before it’s sent.

  3. You get a finished short

Within 48 hours after we confirm fit and have your video. Download it, post it yourself, and tell us what worked. Continuing is entirely optional.

Who it’s for

Creators who already make something worth clipping.

If you publish substantial long-form videos and want more out of them without becoming a short-form editor, this is for you.

  • Podcasts and interview shows
  • Business, finance and educational channels
  • Commentary and personality-led shows
  • Sports and MMA discussion

You need to own the video or be authorised to have it edited. There’s no subscriber minimum.

Start with shorts

One good video can feed a lot more than one feed.

That’s the idea behind the name. We start where the value is clearest: short-form clips.

Who you’ll be working with

Hi, I’m Georgije.

I started Content Octopus because creators keep making great long-form work, and turning it into good shorts takes a lot more than pressing “clip”.

You won’t be handed a tool or passed to an account manager. I study your style, make the calls on each edit, and reply to your emails myself.

More questions

Why is this free? What’s the catch?

We’re building a portfolio of creator-specific work, and the most honest way to show what we do is on your own footage. There’s no card, no required call and no subscription. If you like the edit, we can talk about ongoing work. If not, keep the short and that’s the end of it.

What exactly do I get, and can I use the files?

One finished short from one video: a vertical 9:16 MP4 (normally 1080×1920) with captions and a suggested title, ready to post yourself as a YouTube Short, Instagram Reel or TikTok. You keep the rights to your source, and the edit is yours to use within those rights.

How long does it take?

We reply first to confirm your video is a good fit. Once we have, and we have a usable copy of the video, your short arrives within 48 hours, often sooner. If you’re sending the file privately, the clock starts when it arrives.

How do you match my style?

We look at how you already present yourself: your existing shorts, thumbnails, fonts, colours, how you talk and how you title things. You can also link a short you love, from you or anyone else, and add notes. Every creator gets their own look. We don’t reuse one template with a different face.

Do you use AI?

Yes, as tools. AI-assisted transcription and moment-finding help us work quickly. The decisions that make a short good (which moment, where it starts and ends, the framing, the caption emphasis, the title) are made and checked by a person, and every edit is watched before it’s sent.

What happens if I want more?

We’ll talk about an ongoing arrangement based on how often you publish and what you want delivered. Nothing starts automatically, and nobody gets signed up for anything.
